Top 5 Digital Transformation Trends for 2019

What is digital transformation?

Digital transformation is the integration of digital technology into all areas of business, fundamentally changing how you operate and deliver value to customers. It’s also a cultural change that requires organizations to continually challenge the status quo, experiment, and get comfortable with failure.

In this blog we are talking about the top 5 digital transformation trends for 2019.

1. Better chatbots

Just a few years ago, having a conversation with a machine was very frustrating. The experience has recently improved, but it’s still far from a conversation with a human. Thanks to machine learning algorithms, chatbots will improve significantly in 2019, which may convince more companies to use them. It’s very important from a business point of view because it’s much cheaper to have hundreds of simultaneous customer center conversations than hiring hundreds of people.

2. 5G Fixed to 5G Mobile

In short, we’re finally in a spot where we will start seeing 5G everywhere. The tech community has fixed the wide number of test deployments with companies like Qualcomm, Intel, Nokia, Ericcson, Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi all getting into the action. We are also seeing new companies like Mimosa Networks making it possible to roll 5G out to both rural and urban locations, paving the way for bullish 5G mobile providers. The ATT and Verizon both start offering new, cooler, faster, more innovative services for mobile users. It’s an exciting time for 5G and mobile alike. While 2018 was the year that fixed 5G applications found their legs, in 2019 we are going to see 5G finding its way into the upper corner of our Mobile devices, albeit for you iPhone users it is more likely going to be 2020 or later.

3. Cybersecurity

Many industries are lax on cybersecurity until something terrible happens. And that’s exact what took place for the legal industry last year. As it saws 11 million files leaked from one firm. This firm has been shut down since then. But it’s not just one company. Research shows 80 percentage of the largest firms in the United Staates have already experienced a malicious breach. The study also found nearly 60 percent of all emails directed at the firms was classified as phishing. That’s enough for anyone to wake up and consider how well their security is protecting their client’s information. We’ll see a huge increase in this—dare I saw with blockchain—in 2019.

4. AR before VR

While virtual reality (VR) have mainly use to gaming and highly specializ applications, augmented reality(A.R) will be one of the most interesting trends in a digital transformation in 2019. AR is already popular, but next year, it is bound to flourish. Companies like Apple are investing in AR today, even though the app that would attract customers to buy AR hardware hasn’t arrived yet. AR, together with VR and MR (mixed reality) will lead to new immersive experience.

5. Electronic Discovery

Today’s AI and machine learning are going a long way to make that process much less cumbersome, and I anticipate this becoming a growing niche industry in 2019—with some firms even using AI to assist with decision-making in litigation. While the legal industry isn’t necessarily known for jumping on digital transformation trends in law, they’re definitely coming around to the idea of incorporating new technology in places that will save time and money, and while also improving case outcomes. This will increase exponentially in the year to come.
