Cloud Computing for Web Developers

Many developers have expressed interest in cloud and cloud computing as it relates to web development.  But everyone hasn’t really understood just what cloud computing offers. In this blog, I will discuss some of the cloud services that are available to web developers today.

What is the cloud?

The cloud is a term referring to accessing computer, information technology (IT), and software applications through a network connection. It often by accessing data centers using wide area networking or Internet connectivity.

Almost all IT resources can live in the cloud: A software program or application, a service, or an entire infrastructure. For example, if a business wants to build an IT infrastructure, typically it will install the servers, software. And networking resources it need. But nearly all of those services and resources are now accessible. By going to third parties that offer them in the cloud.

What is Cloud computing?

Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, intelligence. And moreover, the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale. It essentially means that applications have accomplish through the use of many computers that exist online. Rather than on your local computer or web server. You have to pay typically only for cloud services that you use.

Cloud computing should thought of , as a new client-server mechanism. One that will open up resources from multiple internet-connected devices, with lower barriers for entry. Suddenly web developers have access to hosted applications and data, along with cloud-based development services. Enabling them to create web applications that have access to data and services like never before.

Google App Engine

Google has been in the top of the game in terms of web development. It is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) product that provides Web app developers. And  is enterprises with access to Google’s scalable hosting and tier 1 Internet service. The App Engine requires the app which written in Java or Python. It stores data in Google BigTable and uses the Google query language. Non-compliant applications require modification to use App Engine.

It provides more infrastructure than other scalable hosting services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud . The App Engine also eliminates some system administration and developmental tasks to make it easier to write scalable applications. Getting started with App Engine is free for developers–just sign up, upload your app, and begin using it. Obviously Google offers a commercial package, but even as a free cloud service. They provide you with 500 MB of storage and 5 million pageviews a month, at no cost..

Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services(AWS) provides many cloud services for developers. It includes Amazon CloudFront for content delivery, Amazon Fulfillment Service for e-commerce Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring,. Not only this it includes Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) for storage, and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) for networking. Like Google, getting started with AWS is free–just sign up and start developing. Once you sign up for AWS, you are able to obtain an Access Identifier. Which is use to make web service requests from AWS.
